I am Annette. I am the founder and president of the Visionary Club.
I saw a need for support for blind people and socialization because where there's a loss, people need to come together and help support one another
Annette Davis-Harris, Visionary
I am Theadora. I joined the visionary club in 2011.
I found great people who help the community through
the service they gift to others, and the friendship they have with each other is incredible.
The visionary is my family outside my own family that I love and cherish!
Theadora, Visionary
The Visionary Club was birthed in May of 2011 by Annette Davis-Harris out of a need for social support for those who were blind or visually impaired.
Having lost her full sight by the age of 46, Annette wanted to continue to be an active participant in her community despite her disability.
She decided to start a program that would help others who had just lost their sight or those who were already blind or visually impaired.
Annette wanted to be an asset and not a liability to society, but she found that there were only a few if any, social support groups for the blind.
Hence, the start of the Visionary Club which was born out of that need and now services the blind and visually impaired within the Greater Springfield area.
Aside from the scheduled monthly meetings,
annually, we hold a gala and other events to raise funds to support our group and the community.
